Love, love this lifestyle shoot we did for Megro Press! I have loved Yoko’s wonderful aesthetic for a while now, so when she called me about photographing her local Tokyo letterpress studio for her new website, I knew our images would be beautiful. Can not wait to see their new website, but until then… find out more on the blog!

Check out some of our featured products for 2013! We are so excited to share these super cool ways to display your photos.

Part II in the works.

Super excited that Romp Photography/ Vive!Geneviève (i.e. yours truly) will be providing the images for this month’s PechaKucha Mix!

If you don’t know about PechaKucha Nights they are informal and fun gatherings where creative people get together and share their ideas, works, thoughts, holiday snaps — just about anything, really — in the PechaKucha 20×20 format. PechaKucha 20×20 is a simple presentation format where you show 20 images, each for 20 seconds. Though originating in Tokyo, there are PechaKucha Nights now happening in over 500 cities around the world!

PechaKucha Mix is a little different than the traditional 20×20 format and is not part of the presentations. It’s a little fun foray into improv. 20 images are displayed and 4-5 audience members are asked to improv to those images. I’m looking forward to seeing what the audience comes up with for my images and I’d love to see everyone there, improv ready or not!

Liezel unpacking…what a great surprise, it’s mine!

Had the opportunity to check out fur fur 2011 fall collection at JFW last night on a little fashion/runway photo-taking assignment from the lovely Kate Black of Magnifeco . LOOOOVVVED the hair/flowers…right up my alley! Tons of fairy dust, flowers, ruffles and a little smokey haze gave the clothes a definite ethereal look. Just a few of my favorites…

This weekend I had the pleasure of photographing Kate Black, the lovely eco-fashionista/blogger behind the daily eco-fashion blog Magnifeco.com! If you haven’t already, check out out her blog, it’s definitely worth bookmarking… it features gorgeous products that are fair-trade, sustainable, organic, recycled, vintage and/or vegan. Here’s a look at Kate’s latest eco-friendly wardrobe. For more details on the gorgeous items you see here, keep an eye out for Kate’s capsule wardrobe on Magnifeco.com.

(Yes, I’m referencing a very old 5th Dimension song…I really shouldn’t know about it **because I’m wwwaaayyy too young to know about it**, but my parents had it on vinyl, before “vinyl” was cool…)

Christina was back in town this week from NYC and contacted me with a special request…She was looking for some lifestyle portraits and some leg/shoe shots of some uber-comfortable shoes her friend designed. Balloons seemed in order for our shoot and we found an awesome  neighborhood Dr. Seuss-esque house. Christina was lovely despite the heat and stifling humidity. Great job Christina!

Okay…here it is…the big unveil. I ran down to pick up a few carrot cake cupcakes, which are Tony’s favorite (Tony even choose carrot cake cupcakes as his groom’s cake for our wedding day).  Tony looooves a meaningful gift… so I had to pull out my scissors & glue… Of course, I couldn’t not document the event with a couple of photos…much to my husband’s annoyance :). But, anyway, he loved his gifts!

Tony’s surprised look…okay, I think he was just talking to me, but let’s call it a “surprised look” for the sake of the photographic story line…

Okay, here it is…Tony’s secret Father’s Day gift! If you know us, you know Lourdes is our baby & Tony is a great “Puppy’s Daddy”. So… Father’s Day wouldn’t be complete without a special Father’s Day portrait session. We finished it off by getting a little crafty and creating a custom photo card gift set. I’ve got to give Lourdes big props… the Father’s Day photo session was totally her idea, I just made it happen.

I’m so excited to say one of my images will be exhibited in the My Japan Charity Exhibition on the 11th of May in Hiroo, Tokyo. I won’t be able to make the opening night myself, but if please feel free to stop by opening night on the 11th, or between the 12-14th of May to peruse the awesome photos from many talented photographers! The  50 images are for sale & will be professionally printed and mounted in aluminium & acrylic.  All proceeds will go to help the victims of the devastating earthquake & tsunami. For more info please check out their website:

Special thanks to Liezal Strauss for organizing the exhibition!

It’s been awhile since I’ve written my last blog post & I’ve been able to work with some awesome clients so far this year & last year! Thanks a million! With spring in full swing now, we’ve got some awesome photo shoots coming up and with my return to the blogging world, I hope to have more updates soon. I hope to have more regular updates here, but if you’re just looking for some photo imagery to peruse please check out my personal photo blog, http://www.genevievesawtelle.com/.

On a more serious note, with the March 11th earthquake, Japan is faced with incredible adversity  as a result of the earthquake, tsunami, and Fukushima nuclear power plant crisis. I wanted to remind everyone of the great organizations out there and one in particular that is close to my heart. If you’re looking for an organization to support…and love animals please visit:

Japan Earthquake Animal Rescue and Support (JEARS) is a collaboration of three established and registered no kill animal rescue NPOs in Japan and has been doing some great stuff!

* ROMP Photography will be offering some great additions to some of our packages for those clients supporting JEARS, please contact us for more details.

Thanks for your support!
